Ljubljana Frogs Go 1–2 On Gameday 1, Erase A 12-Point Deficit For A 52–12 Win

The Ljubljana Frogs opened FLA Division 1 with a 1–2 day in Innsbruck on September 6 — two one-possession losses either side of a 52–12 win built on 52 unanswered second-half points, with QB Tadej Travnikar throwing 14 touchdown passes across the three games.

Two heartbreakers decided by turnovers and extra points

The day opened rough. Against SU Vienna Vipers 2, Travnikar found Aljoša Kous and Leo Granfol (twice) for three first-half touchdowns, but two interceptions off Travnikar turned into a three-touchdown Vipers run, and the Frogs fell 24–20.

Game two against USI Avalanches 1 was even tighter. Granfol and Miha Erjavec (twice) all scored, but the Frogs came up a single point short, 21–20 — a game decided at the kicking tee, not the line of scrimmage.

The second-half explosion: 0–12 to 52–12

Game three looked like it might make it three straight losses. PROVENTOR Styrian Bears led 12–0 at the half. Then the Frogs scored 52 unanswered points.

Travnikar threw eight touchdown passes in the second half alone — two each to Kous, Bordon, and Erjavec, plus one each to Granfol and Lorenzo Scaperrotta — and Scaperrotta added two interceptions on defense. Otto Močnek chipped in a third pick, and Tobi Javornik recorded a sack. Final: 52–12.

Stat leaders after Gameday 1

Leo Granfol and Miha Erjavec are tied for the FLA Division 1 touchdown lead with four each, per the league's own player statistics — after just one gameday. Travnikar's 14 TD passes across three games is the clearest early signal of what this offense can do when it's clicking.

Up next: Gameday 2
