Now they meet again in the group stage — except this Mexico side looks nothing like that one, and this Switzerland side might be hiding the tournament's biggest wildcard at QB. Add host Germany playing in front of their own crowd with fresh scar tissue from a national championship final, and a Brazil team that survived its own locker room, and you get the most layered group of the WC26 draw after Group A. If the talk of a Washington Commanders practice-squad quarterback is true, Switzerland could make waves — once he's past breaking fingers with bullet passes. We've had the chance to watch his tape. He's a baller. If he's in and has adjusted to flag — and we think he has — Switzerland might be lining up for a fairy tale story again. Beyond the QB1 drama, watch Nolan O'Leary. Alongside Lominet (France) and Ehrenfried (Austria), he's part of the young generation that is the future of European flag. The bigger concern is on the other side of the ball: against Balderamos, a possible NFL-caliber arm, and Brazil's athletes, the German defense is going to be put through a serious test. What makes this project interesting is the bench.
